Julie and Colin (Rick's sister and her husband) were staying with us for a few days and we decided it was time to plant out our apple trees - or at least make a start.

The trellis was not completed but we did have the posts in and the main wires. We only went up to the block for the day and Colin and Julie spent their time planting two rows which consisted of 4 cider apple varieties, totally 46 trees.

While they did the planting and then rabbit proofing the trees with some tree guards, Rick and I began work on the pruning in the vineyard. There was heaps of growth over last season so we were trying to reduce the vine to a few possible leader vines to tie down for the next season. It is all new work to us and hopefully we are not taking out too much of the grape vine.

We will be back in a couple of weeks to complete the planting of the apples and pruning.
